Obituary of Lois-Louise Hadden


HADDEN Lois Louise (Ketter) Hadden, of Milford, passed away on August 26, 2011 in West River Health Care Center after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on April 20, 1918 to the late Charles F. and Martha Y. Ketter in Stamford, CT. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1933 and Merrill Business School in 1935. Lois and her family owned Ketter Brothers Service Station is Springdale until 1969. Lois ran and maintained the business during WWII, when her brothers Herb and Clarence were overseas. An active member of the community, Lois was a parishioner of the former Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Springdale, where she was Sunday school teacher for many years. She also was past president of the Springdale Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and Captain of the American Heart Association, where she devoted her time to raising donations for many years. Lois will remembered for her kindness, generosity and most of all her honesty. Lois is survived by her devoted daughter Ginnebeth H. Ritchie and her husband Wayne of Florida, three stepsons: William E. Hadden, Jr (Ann) of Easthampton, MA, Thomas L. Hadden (Nancy) of Stamford and Robert L. Hadden of Squantz Pond, CT, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a nephew Herbert C. Ketter, Jr. of Appleton, WI. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband William E. Hadden, Sr., former Fire Chief of the Springdale Fire Company, brothers Herbert and Clarence Ketter, sisters Martha, Erma and Constance. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 in Fairfield Memorial Cemetery in Stamford at noon.
