Beaudoin, Lois I. LATHAM Lois Irene Beaudoin, 90, of Latham, beloved wife of Gene Beaudoin for 69 years passed away on October 11, 2014 peacefully during her morning nap. Born in Minden, Neb. on October 24, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Ella M. Wilkinson and Charles Sizer who were married in 1904. She was predeceased by her sister, Ella Mae Short of Des Plains, Ill.; her brothers, Roger of Seattle, Edmund of Kearney, Neb. and Allen of Gibbon, Neb. Lois and Gene were married on New Years in 1945. She also leaves behind Gene Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Simsbury, Conn. She had two grandchildren, Danielle, who is in graduate school at UVM and recently married to Capt. Mike Clark who is currently deployed in Afghanistan; and Ben who recently graduated from UVM and lives in Burlington, Vt. She also leaves behind dozens of Sizer and Beaudoin nieces and nephews. She worked for the Watervliet Arsenal since the early 1950's. While there, she enjoyed the golf and tennis facilities on base and routinely brought home trophies from the ping pong tournaments. For her last 20 years at the Arsenal she was the assistant to the commander of the base who were generals, who cycled out after a three year tour. They realized that Lois was the go-to person due to the rotation of the commanders. She was awarded "honorary commander" in 1967. The First Presbyterian Church of Watervliet was her home away from home serving on various boards and committees from the early 1950's to about 2002. She was an elder of the church for many years and in 2012 she was awarded elder emeritus. Friends may call at the Bowen & Parker Bros. Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, on Saturday, October 19 from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. and interment will follow in Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Watervliet, 819 23rd St., Watervliet, NY 12189.
