Lois Eleanor Martin Williams, 83, of 360 Brookside, N.W., died Nov. 29, 2002. Born Jan. 13, 1919, in Blackville, daughter of Carl Floyd Martin and Alva Smith Martin, she grew up in Eloree, S.C., and graduated from Eloree High School. She attended Columbia College and graduate with honors from the University of South Carolina. While at USC she was a member of Delta Phi Alpha, American Society of Junior Biologists and Chi Omega Sorority. She did graduate work at Clemson College and University of Maryland and received her MS in Science from South Carolina State College. She worked as at laboratory technician with S.C. Hygiene Laboratory and taught science and English in public and private schools for 34 years. She was President of the Norway Telephone Co. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, The Pilot Club and Eastern Star. She was a founding member of The Norway Matrons Club. A former member of The Norway Baptist Church, she served there as a Sunday School teacher, organist, and choir director. She was a member of St. Paul's UMC of Orangeburg where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a TRMC and Hospice volunteer. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Kaye W. Borgstedt, Orangeburg; daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor Faye and William B. "Bill" Bookhart Jr.; son, Judge James C. Williams Jr., Norway; son and daughter-in-law, Bragg M. and Salley Williams, Norway; brother and sister-in-law, C. Francis and Bobbie Martin, Elloree; grandchildren, Sandra and Michael Borgstedt, Orangeburg, William Burden and Andrea Bookhart, Elloree, James Hunt Bookhart, Elloree, Martin and Crystal Williams and Laura Williams, Norway; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Madison Bookhart, Elloree; step-grandchildren, Kevin, Bryson and Clark Borgstedt; and a number of nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a.m. today, Dec. 2, at First Baptist Church of Elloree, S.C., with the Rev. Clark McCrary, the Rev. Andy Hunter, the Rev. Dr. Carl Martin and the Rev. Kermit Shrawder officiating. Pallbearers will be Dr. Carl F. Martin, Thomas Chaplin, Larry K. Watt, G. LaVerne Williams Jr., Braxton B. Williams III, W. Steven Williams, Clark L. Borgstedt, William M. Brown. Memorials may be made to Hospice of TRMC, Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, The Gideons International. Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, 3379 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, is in charge of arrangements.
