Lois E. Johnson, 77, Englewood and Mayville, N.Y., died Sept. 26, 2002, at home. She was born Feb. 3, 1925, in Ridgway, Pa., and retired in 1982 as the owner/operator of an apartment house in Chautauqua, N.Y., and the former Johnson Cottages nearby. She was a member of Acanthus Chapter of Eastern Star in Mayville, the Fire Department Auxiliary, Election Board and Hurlburt Memorial Community United Methodist Church, all in Chautauqua, and Englewood United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Lewis H.; sons Dennis of Conway, S.C., and Brian of Ferndale, Calif.; a daughter, Luanne Elder of Westfield, N.Y.; a sister, Melodee Marvin of Santa Ana, Calif.; a brother, Randall Stark of Sun City, Calif.; three grandsons; and a great- grandson. Services and burial will be in New York, where Freay Funeral Home in Mayville is in charge. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 4840 West Lake Road, Mayville, NY 14757; or to a favorite charity.
