Lionel Gerald Richard 1916-2014 The death of Lionel G. Richard of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Veterans Health Unit on Saturday May 24, 2014 at the age of 97. Lionel was born in Saint Paul de Kent. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Alice (Gauthreau) Richard. Lionel was a veteran of WWII. He served in England Italy and Northwestern Europe with the First Canadian Division Royal Corps of Signals. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 12 in Minto. He was also a chartered member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3502 Minto. Lionel was a graduate of the Maritime Forest Ranger School and was employed by the department of Natural Resources for 32 years. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching and feeding the birds. Lionel is survived by his Son Ron and his daughter Donna Weaver(Donald); 2 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; 3 sisters Hermine(Pierre), Marie Jeanne, and Assunta. Lionel will be sadly missed and always remembered by his dear friend Mary Dean and he children. Lionel was predeceased by his wife Edna, brothers; John, Dorice, Desire, Clarence, sister Laurette There will be no visitation by request. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at 11 AM with Father Monte Peters officiating with a reception to follow in the church basement. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery at 2 PM. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
