Linda Johnson, born in 1943, spouse of Nathan Johnson, daughter of Dewitt and Ethel-Godwin, mother of Wanda and Mike, died on October 18, 2005 at 62 years old.
Linda J. "Coochie" Johnson, 62, of 615 Willimon Drive, Piedmont, widow of Nathan Johnson, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at her residence. Born in Wilson County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Dewitt and Ethel Godwin Hinnant. Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Davis of Piedmont; a son, Mike Strickland of North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Crystal, Robin, and Shane Strickland, all of Simpsonville, Michael, Morgan, and Natalie Davis, all of Piedmont, Brooke and Faith Strickland of Selma, N.C.; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Mann of Lincolnton, N.C., and Peggy Watkins of Pilot, N.C.; and special friends, Larry and Diane Phillips, Danny and Donna Phillips, Carol and Ralph Roberts and Rose Strickland. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethelene Brantley and Betty Lou Fulford; and a brother, Junior Lee Hinnant. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
