NANCES CREEK — Funeral service for Linda Joan Parris, 60, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory with the Rev. Jeffery McElroy and the Rev. Gene Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Nances Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mrs. Parris died Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Grover Clinton Parris; one son, Edward L. Parris (Melissa), of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Chloe Parris and Ella Grace Parris; four sisters, Wanda Cromer (Jerry), of Nances Creek, Sandra Traffanstedt (Tommy), of Spring Garden, Brenda Rogers (James), of Piedmont and Betty Kurpakus (Brian), of Gadsden; one brother, Kenneth Lipscomb (Rose), of Piedmont; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Adam Johnson, Horace Parris, Floyd Parris, Chad Lloyd, Waylon Parris and Adam Kurpakus. Mrs. Parris was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was a member of Holly Crossroads Baptist Church.
