Obituary of Linda-J. Baker


Linda J. Baker, 67, a lifetime resident of Pawling, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.The daughter of the late Ernest Raymond Johnson and Jennie (Lindberg) Johnson, Baker was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Poughkeepsie. She graduated from Pawling High School in 1963 and attended Krissler Business Institute.She married Harold H. Baker in Pawling on May 27, 1967; he survives at home. Linda Baker was the past secretary/treasurer for the Pawling Little League. She worked as a secretary for Chertock's Department Store in Pawling, but she devoted most of her life to taking care of her grandson, Logan.In addition to her husband, Baker is survived by her daughter, Joanne Coon, and her husband, William, of Wingdale; her son, Erik Baker, and his wife, Jennifer, of Evans, Ga.; and her four grandchildren, Logan Coon, Mary Elizabeth Baker, Hunter Wells and Erik Baker.Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes Inc. Funeral Home, 83 E. Main St. in Pawling, from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home; burial will follow at Quaker Hill Cemetery in Pawling.Memorial contributions may be made to either the Pawling United Methodist Church or the Pawling Resource & Service Center.
