Lillie Ruth Whitfield Stewart, age 85, of Oakwood passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, following an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Anderson Stewart; her mother, Cora Mae Welchel Whitfield; her father, Joseph Benjamin Whitfield; her brother, Jesse Ray Whitfield Sr.; and her sister, Ida Belle Whitfield.Mrs. Stewart is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Suzie Stewart, James and Amy Stewart and David and Melissa Stewart; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Dola Whitfield Seay and Inez Whitfield Allen; sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Whitfield; and many nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Memorial Park Funeral Home North. The Rev. Paul Evans will officiate.
