Lillie Mae Whitfield Davis FRUITLAND PARK - Lillie Mae Whitfield Davis, 87, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2006. The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tired Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Cairo, Ga., with burial at the church cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service Friday at the church.Clark Funeral Home in Cairo (229-377-1414) is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a hospice of your choice. Born April 25, 1918, in Reno, Grady County, Ga., she was the daughter of Edward James Whitfield and Addie Bell Bryant Whitfield. She moved from Miami to Fruitland Park in 1978 after retiring as a cafeteria manager for the Dade County school system.Lillie was a skilled china painter and a member of the Miami Palette Club. She was involved in all phases of her children's school lives, including serving as a PTA president and den mother. Lillie attended all 12 of her grandchildren's high-school and college graduations and weddings. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg.Lillie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gillum Craven Davis Sr.; three sons, Gillum Craven Davis Jr. (and wife Bonnie) of Tallahassee, Edward Hugh Davis (and wife Diane) of Okeechobee and Neal Emory Davis (and wife Nancy) of Tallahassee; a daughter, Kathey Louise Gamiotea (and husband Raul) of Arcadia; a brother, John Wesley "J.W." Whitfield of Whigham, Ga.; a sister, Lola Frances Norton of Hattiesburg, Miss.; 12 grandchildren, Gillum Craven Davis III, Emory Dean Davis, Clifford Daniel Davis, Anita Marie Gamiotea-Gammage, Edward James Whitfield Davis, Edward Hugh Davis Jr., Patricia Ann McNease, David Eugene Davis, James Craven Gamiotea, Lori-Lynette Bandi, Laura Janeen Lawrence and April Carolyn Davis; and 19 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, John Paul Gamiotea.
