Lillian-Mary Carr, born in 1932, spouse of Charles-William Carr, mother of Madelaine and Philip, died on January 5, 2005. Please consult the obituary here:
Lillian Mary Carr September 29, 1932 - January 05, 2005 Funeral arrangements by Leyden's Funeral Home (Calgary) It is with our greatest sorrow that we tell of our mother’s sudden passing on January 5, 2005. Lillian’s love of life will be greatly missed by her children, Philip (Lorna) and Madelaine (Allan), and her grandchildren, Byron, Teagan, Callum and Rory. Lillan was born in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1932 and raised in Turin/Barhill. She found her way to Calgary where she met and married her love, Charles William (Bill), who predeceased her in 1996. Her life in Calgary was full. She was a well-loved teacher for more than 20 years at Vincent Massey Junior High, and for the last five years as a teaching assistant at Highwood Elementary. She served for many years on the ATA board in numerous capacities. Lillian found passion in the arts, for decades attending performances of Calgary Opera, Banff Music Festivals, Chamber Music Series, and volunteering at the Kiwanis Music Festivals. A voracious reader, Lillian loved participating in Calgary Reads and with her book club. She gave generously of her time at local art galleries and loved her time at fine auction houses. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family, enjoying the family cottage in Brisco, and travelling to Cowichan Station, BC. Her passing leaves sorrow in the hearts of her sisters Helen, Margaret (Mike), Vicky (Bing), brother Charles (Arlette) and their families, as well as sisters-in-law Marguerite and Carlina, and hundreds of friends and peers. We will all miss you so very much. Lillian is again with her Bill. May the soft winds blow over you both. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church (3602-8th Street SW, Calgary) on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at 1:30 pm. Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis Festival’s Carr Scholarship (301-14th Street NW, Suite 450, Calgary, T2N 2A1). To e-mail condolences, leydens@arbormemorial.com subject Carr Family.
