WILLIAMS Lillian B. WIlliams, 94, died Tuesday December 9, 2003 at home she shared with her daughter and son in law in Tallahassee, FLorida. Mrs. WIlliams was born Lillian Baker on July 19, 1909 in Douglas, Ga. She was the eldest of 8 children all of whom preceded her in death. She had 2 brothers Norman and Carlton Barker and 5 sisters Annie Lee Holton, Idel Douglas, Mina Smith, Doris Gilliard, and Evelyn Baker. She was the wife of the late Arthur D. Williams who preceded her in death some months over 40 years. Mrs. Williams is survived by her only child Lillian JoAnn Searls and her son in law Walter Ray “ Craig” Searls of Tallahassee, her grand foster son, Kevin Stoddard of Jacksonville, many nieces and nephews and their children. Lillian moved to Jacksonville, Florida on December 7, 1941. Shortly thereafter she was employed at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station as a civilian worker and retired after 28 1/2 years. She was a member of the Holiness Baptist Church in Georgia, but attended the First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Jacksonville for over 50 years. After her retirement she enjoyed traveling with different family members across America seeing our great country in all of it's beauty. Her interests also included being a faithful supporter of Southern Gospel Music attending the National Quartet Convention for 32 years in succession and traveling to gospel singings in many cities and towns across the eastern US for over 50 years. She lived with her daughter and son in law for over 23 years and the three of them moved to Tallahassee in 1992 due to her daughter's job relocation. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 11th from 6 to 8pm at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home at 729 Edgewood Ave. South. Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held in the Chapel at Hardage Giddens Funeral Home at 2pm on Friday December 12, 2003 with interment following the service at the Edgewood Cemetery. Rev. Paul Mays will be officiating at the service. Ho norary Pallbearers will be all of her nephews and the pallbearers will be the children of her nieces and nephews.
