Lewis Edward Frawley - POOLER - Lewis Edward Frawley, 100, of Pooler, died Tuesday, Jan 31, 2012 at Hospice Savannah, after a short illness. He was born in Statesboro, Bulloch County, Georgia in 1911, and came to Savannah in 1940, straight from the farm. He became a Master Welder and worked in a local shipyard, and then at Steel Products, which later became Great Dane. He retired briefly before returning to work at the request of Romine, Inc., a steel fabrication company in Pooler. In 1967, after he retired for good, he started a small nursery on one acre in Pooler, called Country Homes Nursery in the Country Homes Subdivision. He taught many people how to properly grow plants. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elise, who passed away on Mother's Day 2010. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Barbara F. Coley and Mrs. Deloris F. McNear, and a sister, Mary Brannen Merritt, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Family Graveside Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest West Cemetery, with Dr. Julie S. Mack, officiating.
