LONDONDERRY - Lester B. Smith, 82, formerly of Londonderry, died June 17, 2011, in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. He was born April 11, 1929, son of the late Bushrod and Sylvia (Chase) Smith. He was a self-employed builder, developer and heavy equipment operator. He attended the Londonderry United Methodist Church, where he and his family played an active role in relocating the church back to its original location within the church property. He was an avid bird hunter and especially enjoyed hunting field grouse. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth E. Smith of Derry; son David Smith of Strafford; three daughters, Christine Marcucci of Amherst, Alice Baker of Peterborough, and Sylvia Rodriguez of Glendale, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his half brother, Brad Smith of Londonderry. . SERVICES: After cremation, calling hours are Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A memorial service is Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Londonderry United Methodist Church, 258 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Londonderry.
