Lessie Mae Brown - Vidalia- Lessie Mae Brown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away at her home in Vidalia, Georgia, on August 8, 2006. Lessie was born in Montgomery County, Georgia, on December 9, 1914, to John Asa and Annie Belle Waller Garrett. Her life in Vidalia was filled with service and devotion to her family, church, and community. She was owner and manager of J.O. Brown's Jewelry for 18 years and enjoyed travel with her husband, visiting all fifty states and scores of foreign countries on six continents. She was active in the Vidalia First Baptist and a member of the local and State Order of the Eastern Star. Lessie is survived by her husband, Lamar Allen Brown; sons James Ace Brown and wife Jeanette Spencer Brown of Augusta, and Charles Allen Brown and wife Linda Shurgin Brown of Cashiers, N.C; daughters Le Anne Brown and husband Arthur Francis Sullwold, Jr., of Juneau, Alaska, and Lyn Brown Oxley and husband Matthew Walker Oxley III of Vidalia; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Visitation with family will be held at Murchison Funeral Home, 207 2nd St.E, Vidalia, GA, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 10. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, August 11, Vidalia First Baptist Church, followed by interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
