Leslie Henry Tompkins, 86, Phil Campbell, Ala., died June 4, 2003, at his residence.The funeral will be Friday, June 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home chapel, Russellville, with burial in Franklin Memory Gardens. Officiating at the funeral will be James Phillips. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. today at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville.Mr. Tompkins was a native of Franklin County and a member of Spruce Pine Church of Christ. He served in the Army during World War II, where he received American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with one Bronze Star.He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal N. Tompkins.He is survived by one daughter, Joan L. Taylor and husband, Ed, Florence, Ala.; brothers, Oscar Tompkins and wife, Olean, Belgreen, Ala., Louie Tompkins and wife, Jewel, Belgreen, Ala.; sister, Betty Brock and husband, Byron, Birmingham, Ala.; grandchild, Michael E. Taylor, Florence, Ala.Pallbearers will be David Hamilton, Joel Hamilton, Albert Tompkins, Stan Ashe, Robert Jackson and Myron Berry.Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, is directing.
