1924 – 2014 BINGHAM - Lephie D. (Beane) Curtis, 89, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Somerset Rehabilitation & Living Center in Bingham, where she had been a resident for several years. Lephie was born in Concord Township on April 11, 1924, to Clifford and Eva (French) Beane. Lephie has been a lifelong resident of Bingham. She had been employed by Quimby Veneer Mill in Bingham and as a cook at School Administrative District 13 in Bingham. She was a proud homemaker and an excellent cook. Lephie enjoyed nature, especially viewing wildlife. Her idea of a gourmet meal was a picnic with hot dogs on a stick over an open fire. She especially enjoyed picnics overlooking Kingsbury Pond. Lephie was predeceased by her husband, Harold Curtis; three brothers, Cecil, Floyd and Roy; and sisters Anne, Shirley and Dorothy. She is survived by her son, Michael P. Curtis of Bingham; a sister, Marcia (Beane) Mullaney, and her husband, Neil, of Biloxi, Miss.; three grandchildren, Chad Curtis of Brunswick, Christy Lynne Bates of Lynchburg, Va., and Jamie Curtis of Boston; and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be later in the spring in the family lot in Bingham Village Cemetery. Cremation and service arrangements are under the care of Giberson Funeral Home, 18 River St., Bingham.
