Leon A. Lemieux 1919-2011 Leon A. Lemieux a native of Fitchburg, Mass., and former resident of Bennington, Vt., and resident of Pensacola, Fla., who served 31 years in the US Navy, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Naval Hospital, Pensacola. He is the son of the late Pierre and Marie Lemieux. He is survived by his brother, Edgar E. Lemieux, of Bennington, Vt., six grandchildren; Elizabeth McBowell (Donald), Roxanne Laws, Leon Garner (Sarah), Denise Kobelia (Justin), Brian Lemieux, Jeffery Lemieux (Lisa) in addition to seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his dear friend, Ida Bradley and her family. Mr. Lemieux was pre-deceased by his wife Ann, a daughter Betty Ann and son Leon Jr., brothers, Arthur, Albert (Prince) & Aime Lemieux and sister Pauline Torrey. Mr. Lemieux was a lover of the sport of boxing. Not only did he participate in boxing in his earlier years, he also taught the sport, as well as being a member of The Boxing Hall of Fame in several states. Leon may be best remembered in Bennington from the family owned Lemieux Brick Yard. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held 10:15 a.m. Tuesday November 22, 2011 at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
