Berlin- Leo L. Aubin, 91 of 457 Norway St. passed away Tuesday March 29,2005 at the Coos County Nursing Home. He was born December 31, 1913 in Berlin son of Isaac and Delvina (Aubin) Aubin. His father was co-owner of Blais and Aubin. He attended St. Regis Academy and graduated from Berlin High School. He also attended Columbia University and Trophagen School of Fashion Design in New York City. During his studies he worked as a floor supervisor for J. J. Newbury in Worcester, MA, Brooks Brothers, Wallach and Macy’s in New York continuing on to become a fashion designer and illustrator for advertising and newspapers. He then came to Berlin and opened a men’s store. He eventually started teaching art classes in his mother’s kitchen eventually opening many studios in downtown Berlin. As a skilled artist, he was well known for his painting of the Shelburne Birches, never owning one of his own. With over 50 years of teaching, students came from as far away as Whitefield and North Stratford to attend classes. He traveled to many parts of Europe, Cuba and Florida. He loved the beaches. Leo had many fine qualities and a true friend to everyone he was in touch with. He will be sadly missed by family, friends and students. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Annette Richard, who passed away in 1999. He is survived by his very close friend of 60 years, Father Joseph Cote of Berlin and many cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday April 2, at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant St., Berlin. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High St., Berlin, NH.
