Lena Bernie Jackson, 62, of Rockford, Ill., died at 3:44 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, in Swedish American Hospital.Born on Aug. 7, 1943, in Tuscumbia, Ala., she was the daughter of Homer and Edith (Isbell) King.She married Hillard Jackson on Nov. 8, 1960, in Tuscumbia. Bernie was the loving matriarch of the family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Bernie enjoyed quilting, her poodle Sissy, playing bingo and gambling trips to the boat.She is survived by her children, Deborah (Mike) Rogers, Gailen (Valerie) Jackson, both of Rockford; grandchildren, Amanda (John Oelrichs) Jackson, of Sterling, Jessica Jackson, Angela (Jeff Parkerson) Aimers, Joel Jackson, Joseph Rogers, all of Rockford; several great-grandchildren; sister, Ola V. Peanut (William) Fant, of Marianna, Fla.; special friends, Debbie (Butch) Lindenmier and Martha Calhoun, all of Rockford.She was predeceased by her parents, Homer and Edith; husband, Hillard; and grandson, Michael Jackson.Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road, Rockford. A funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor David McDaniel officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
