Lena J. Malouin 1921 2012 EAST LONGMEADOW Lena J. "Lee" (Goodrow) Malouin, 90, of Bluebird Estates in East Long-meadow and a former longtime resident of Eddy Street in the Hungry Hill section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Thursday, September 6, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on October 1, 1921, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Philomena (Martin) Goodrow. She was raised in Springfield and graduated from the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Elementary School and the former Springfield Trade High School. She lived in the city for many years on Eddy Street before moving to East Longmeadow in 2010. Lee was a member of the Springfield Golden Age Club and an avid square dancer. She was a communicant of the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and the former Saint Mary Church which is now Mary, Mother of Hope Church, all in Springfield. She was currently a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Springfield. Lee was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her devoted husband and best friend, Henry J. Malouin. They were married on November 28, 1940 at the former Saint Thomas Aquinas Church in Springfield and were blessed with nearly 72 years of happiness together. She also leaves: her loving children, Janet M. Plouffe of Springfield, Gerald J. Malouin and his wife, Doreen, of West Springfield, Sister Theresa A. Malouin, CSC of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Hampton, NH, Raymond F. Malouin and his fiancee, Karen Yarosh, of Columbia, CT and Bev A. Furtek and her partner, Dennis Waite, of East Longmeadow; her seven cherished grandchildren, James Hallihan, Sean Hallihan and his wife, Tammy, Paul Malouin and his wife, Amanda, Mark Malouin and his wife, Meredith, Michelle Seymour and her husband, Jonathan, Aaron Malouin and his wife, Meghan, and Jonathan Malouin and his wife, Jennifer; her 10 cherished great-grandchildren; her two cherished great-great grandchildren; her dear brothers, Arthur Goodrow, Jr. and his wife, Rose, and Edward W. Goodrow and his wife, Ellen, all of Agawam, Robert Goodrow of Springfield and Eugene F. Goodrow and his wife, Joane, of Inverness, FL; her dear sister, Norma Tourigny and her husband, Hector, of Southwick; her dear sister-in-law, Camilla Goodrow of Springfield; her dear brother-in-law, Ernest Chagnon of Springfield; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving granddaughter, Colleen Hallihan; her dear brother, Homer A. Goodrow; and her dear sisters, Alma A. Chagnon, Yvonne Nelson and Helen Martin. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, Springfield, MA 01104. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard, MA 01151. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 10, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sisters of the Holy Cross, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.
