Lee Roy Smith, 86, of Panama City, Fla., passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at a local nursing facility. Mr. Smith served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Abbott Pharmaceuticals in North Chicago. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Joan Lane Smith of Panama City; three daughters, Laurel Hutchinson (Jerry) of Eustis, Fla., Susan Smith of Santa Monica, Calif., and Mary Mills of Gainesville, Fla.; stepson, Timothy Provo of Sewanee, Tenn.; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Provo (Tony) of Asheville, N.C.; brother, Leo Smith (Eileen) of Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Loretta Schrake (Lother) of Kenosha, Wis.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
