Obituary of Lawrence-S. Lamb


AUGUSTA, Ga. - Lawrence S. Lamb, 85, entered into rest on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Doctor's Hospital. Mr. Lamb was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, where he served as a Heavy Bomber Pilot. He attended Clemson before transferring and graduating from the University of Florida. He worked at the American Bridge Company in Chicago before settling in Augusta at Patchen Mingledorff, where he was an Executive VP and CFO. Lawrence was the Chief Design Engineer for what was then the Georgia Railroad Bank Building and the Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center. He was a member of the Augusta Country Club, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, and Fellows of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. Lamb was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph P. and Mary Tucker Lamb, and his brother, Joseph P. Lamb, Jr., and sister, Virginia Lamb Underhill. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Beatrice Oglesby Lamb; son, Lawrence S. Lamb, Jr. of Hoover, AL; granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Lamb; sisters, Martha Hancock of Palatka, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11:00a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010 at Westover Memorial Park with The Very Reverend Robert Fain officiating.
