Obituary of Lawrence-David O-Neill


O'NEILL, LAWRENCE DAVID - It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Lawrence David O'Neill, formerly of 10 Ricketts Lane, Rothesay, husband of the late Louise Roberta (McAllister) O'Neill, on Saturday, July 14, 2007. David was born in Saint John on January 5, 1929, a son of the late Lawrence Alexander and Mary Evelyn (O'Leary) O'Neill. David was very actively and passionately involved with the Community Living Board helping to ensure that persons with a development delay were given the support needed for them to live within their community, and served as Chairman of the Board for 20 years. He was a Past Grand Knight of Council 937 Knights of Columbus and had been active as a councillor with the Columbian Squires. He is survived by his 11 children, Larry (Ann-Marie) of Quispamsis, Mary Lou (Claude) Comeau of Rothesay, Ellen (David) Grant of Colbrook, N.S., Kevin (Terry) of Quispamsis, Pat (Lesley) of Saint John West, Maureen O'Neill of Saint John West, Catherine (Tom) Curwin of Quispamsis, Michael (Mary) of Rothesay, Brian of Saint John East, Paul (Tina) of Saint John West, and Carl Sabean of Grand Bay. He was also a very proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren, Ryan, Kelly, Lee, Colin, Lauren, Kale, Rory, Seth, Miranda, Zackery, Madison, Ben, Gillian, Marley, Taylor, and Camryn O'Neill; Kathryn, Michael, and Victoria Grant; Jonathon and Jenna Comeau; and Allison and Caitlynn Curwin. Also surviving are David's sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Joe Mallette of Loch Lomond Rd.; his borthers-in-law, Mort (Lois) Mcallister of St.John and Jim (Sally) Mcallister of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian diabetes Association or the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. www.fitzpatrickfh.com July 16, 2007
