Laurie A. Smith, 46, Monon, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at Jasper County Hospital. She was born at Rensselaer on Aug. 28, 1962, to Gail and Jean (Shumaker) Parker. She married Harold Smith at Rensselaer on Sept. 8, 1990. He survives. Other survivors include mother, Jean Shumaker Parker; children, Jera (Chad) Pio, More Haven, Fla., Krista Ruemler and Allison Smith, both of Lafayette and Alisha Ruemler, Brookston; sisters, Gayla (Ralph) Carroll, Rensselaer, Cinda Kelley, Avon and Teresa (Rick) Miller, Akron. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Jackson Funeral Chapel, Rensselaer. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with Rev. Kenin Smith officiating.
