Laura-Louise Williams, born in 1928, spouse of Chief-David-George Williams, mother of Myra, Darlene, Addie, Alexander, Chief Bill, Henry and Pricilla, died on May 30, 2007. Please consult the obituary here:
WILLIAMS _ Laura Louise (Nee: Collinson) December 17, 1928 - May 30, 2007 It is with great sadness that the Williams' family announce the death our mother, grandmother and auntie. Laura was a dedicated wife and mother. She is predeceased by her husband Chief David George Williams and daughter Pricilla Simen-Falvy. Laura's life journey began in Kitkatla, BC and as a young lady she married and moved to Squamish, BC. She was married for 46 years and had continued the strong family values and teachings instilled by her traditional upbringing to keep her family together. Laura was a dedicated parent and an elder of the Squamish Nation. Her 60 years of community commitment will be dearly missed by all those who knew her. She will be fondly remembered for her smile and her soft spoken voice. Her trademark was her weekly trips to the beauty salon to have her beautiful red hair curled and she always wore stylish dresses or dress suits. Laura loved life, in her spare time she attended all community gatherings; her hobbies included bingo, travelling and her excursions to the casinos was a favourite pastime. A special thank you to the Doctors and staff at Lions Gate Hospital; the family Dr. Schellenberg; and the Squamish Nation Home and Community staff for providing the comfort to our mother during her recent illness. Laura will be deeply missed by her children, Henry Williams (Jackie); Chief Bill Williams; Alexander Williams; Addie Kermeen; Darlene Williams (Ray); Myra Williams (Roland). Daughter-in-law; Bertha Joseph and son-in-law; Ben Simen-Falvy. Children Laura and David took into their homes and raised with their family Allan Natrall (Laverne); Charles Natrall; Susette Baker and Denise Lewis. Laura is survived by 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, loving relatives and dear friends. A Prayer Service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the residence of the Williams family, 39602 Gov't Road (North Yards), Squamish, BC. A Funeral Service will also be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 10:00 am at Totem Hall, 102 Stawamus Road, Squamish, BC.
