Obituary of Laura-Dodge Brown


Laura Dodge Brown SCARBOROUGH -- Laura Dodge Brown, of Scarborough, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at the Holbrook Center at Piper Shores. Born in Omaha, Neb. in 1914, she was a graduate of Milton Academy (1932) and Wheelock College (1937). In 1939, she married Lloyd Brown M.D. He predeceased her in 2004. Long interested and active in educational and community service, Mrs. Brown lived in Bangor and Brooksville. She served as president of the Good Samaritan Association, the Eastern Maine Medical Center Auxiliary Board, the Maternal Health League, and the Unitarian Church of Bangor. In addition, she served on the boards of Community Health and Counseling, the United Fund, and the Junior League of Bangor. She also served as president of Four Town Nursing Service of Blue Hill (currently known as the Hancock County Home Care and Hospice). Mrs. Brown is survived by her children, L. David Brown of Boston, Mass., Laura W. Marshall of Somerville, Mass., Susanna B. Elliot of Brooksville, Rosamond Brown of South Portland and Timothy B. Brown of Lawrenceville, N.J.; and 11 grandchildren. Mrs. Brown's memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland.
