Obituary of Laura Brown


BROWN, LAURALaura Brown, 85, passed away on March 22, 2005 in Warwick, NY. She was born in Dobbs Ferry on November 19, 1919, daughter of William H. and Florence (Argue) Brown. Laura moved with her family to Orlando Ave. in Ardsley in 1929 and resided there until 2002 when she moved to Schervier Pavilion in Warwick. She was a lifelong member of the Ardsley United Methodist Church. Laura graduated from Ardsley High School, Savage College, and East Stroudsburg State Teachers College. She taught physical education for nearly 30 years at the Pocantico Hills School and also coached baseball in the summers and taught swimming in the pond behind the school. A natural athlete, Laura enjoyed and excelled in both bowling and golf. Laura loved her family and friends and her home in Ardsley. Laura is survived by two sisters: Dorothy Zotz of Los Altos, CA and Gertrude Golder of Elmsford and one brother, Douglas of Springfield, IL. She also leaves behind seven nieces and nephews and many good friends. Funeral Service 9:30 am Friday, Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Visiting 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm Thursday, Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Ardsley-Secor Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
