Laura A. Brown, 90, Sarasota, died May 2, 2003. She was born Jan. 12, 1913, in Queens County, N.Y., and came to Sarasota in 1974 from Toms River, N.J. She retired as an elementary school teacher in the New York City school systems for 23 years. She graduated from Hunter College, Staten Island, N.Y. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Sarasota. Survivors include four cousins. No visitation is scheduled. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Burial will be in Staten Island. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, is in charge.
