LARRY W. SMIT GARY, IN Larry W. Smit, age 72 of Gary, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Trena (nee Huizinga) of 52 years; one son, Terry (Debbie) Smit of Griffith; three daughters, Linda (Stanton) Visser of Iowa; Debbie (Jason) Hubers of South Dakota, and Diane (Tim) Bakker of Illinois; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Ceigh Bree Watson (Rockford Holmes) of Hawaii. Preceded in death by parents: Andrew and Henrietta Smit; and two brothers: John and Lou Smit. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN with Pastor Peter Oh officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family Wednesday July 27, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home. Mr. Smit was a member of Beacon Light Christian Reformed Church.
