Industrial WelderLAKELAND -- Mr. Larry Ray Smith of Lakeland died of cancer Thursday (Oct. 20, 2005) at home. He was 57.Born in Hollywood, Fla., on April 29, 1948, he came to Lakeland from there 40 years ago. He was an industrial welder. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star.Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Karen Smith; sons, Chris Smith and Larry R. Smith Jr., both of Lakeland; stepson, Joshua Ashbey, Lakeland; daughter, Emily Smith, Lakeland; mother, Margaret Perry, Lakeland; brothers, Glen Smith and Rodney Smith, both of Lakeland; sisters, Karen Hartigan and Brenda Prabhakar, both of Lakeland, Diana Johnson, Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren.Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Heath Funeral Chapel.
