Smith, LarryApril 2, 1948 - Dec. 3, 2008Larry Smith, 60, Longboat Key, formerly of Maumee, Ohio, died Dec. 3, 2008. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Dec. 12 at St. Martha Catholic Church, 200 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota. Immediate interment will follow on the grounds. Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Mary; a daughter, Hillary (Jacob) of Dublin, Ohio; his mother, Geraldine, of Sarasota; brothers Randy (Lori) of Bonita Springs, and Kenny (Vicki) of Sarasota; sisters Sharon (John) Ahearne of National City, Mich., and Lori (Bob) Morrison of Tennessee and Elaine Bussiere of Parrish. Larry was predeceased by his father, Harry Smith, and his brother, Harry. Larry Smith was born in Flint, Mich., and graduated from Holy Redeemer High School as president of the class of '66 and captain of the state finals basketball team. He continued his education and basketball at the University of Toledo to again graduate as captain, MVP and Senior Scholar Athlete. After working several years in the computer industry, Larry co-founded in 1982, The Shared Logic Group, Inc., which continues to provide nationwide sales and support of software for the recycling industry. He was president until 2008 and continued as a member of the board of directors. Larry lived most of his adult life in Maumee-Monclova Township, Ohio, with good neighbors and lifelong friends from college and sports.
