Obituary of Larry-R. Carter


Larry R. Carter, 57, St. Augustine, died Feb. 19, 2009, at Flagler Hospital. He was a native and lifelong resident of St. Augustine, and was the son of Mary Ruth Banks Carter and the late Noah Jefferson Carter. A graduate of St. Augustine High School, Larry loved music and played in The Deadbeats Band and later with the band called Life. He also played with other bands and musicians throughout St. Augustine. He later graduated from St. Johns River Community College Law Enforcement Program and worked as a policeman with the City of St. Augustine. After his time as a policeman he then worked as a patient care technician in the late '80s. He was also formerly associated with the management and ownership of Hurricane Pattie's. He was a member of McDowell Baptist Church. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday Feb. 22, 2009 at McDowell Baptist Church, 16 Bayview Drive, with Dr. Clarence Blalock, pastor, officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined and those wishing may make a contribution in his memory to the Larry Carter Memorial Fund, c/o McDowell Baptist Church, PO Box 860417, St. Augustine, FL 32086. Survivors in addition to his mother, Mary Ruth Carter, include three siblings, all of St. Augustine, and his beloved Doris Campo. St. Johns Family Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
