Larry Edwin Edwards, 64, of Salem and formerly of Vallonia and Brownstown, died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Meadowview Health and Rehab, Salem.Born Aug. 6, 1946, in Jackson County, he was the son of Harley Edwards and Dorothy Houshour Edwards, both of whom preceded him in death.He was a member of Brownstown Christian Church. He had worked at Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour, Golden Foundry in Columbus and Silgan in Seymour. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Seymour. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 655 in Seymour. He loved fishing, camping and mushroom hunting.Survivors include two sons, Brad Edwards, Brownstown, and Mark Edwards, Brownstown; one stepson, Charles Lowery, Vallonia; five brothers, Steve Edwards, Brownstown, Bobby Edwards, Seymour, William Dean Edwards, Indianapolis, Floyd Edwards, Seymour, and James Edwards, Seymour; and two sisters, Evelyn Sims, Indianapolis, and Marjorie Cooley, Seymour.Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Vella Mae Donnell, Mozena Geyman and Mildred Fields.Pastor Scott Erwin will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday at Zabel Funeral Home in Brownstown. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Acme. Graveside military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Korea and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Jason Edwards.
