<!-- FH = Gray Funeral Home -->Larry D. SmithJoannaLarry D. Smith, age 49 of 220 Whitmire Hwy. died Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Hospice House in Asheboro, N.C. He was born in Clinton and was the son of the late R.B. Smith and Jeanette B. Cannon. He was a former employee of Greenwood Mills, Joanna First Baptist Church and Thornwell Children's Home. Larry was a dedicated Christian man who was devoted to the church, and to Thornwell Children's Home. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and gardening. Surviving are a brother, Michael Smith and wife, Janet ; a nephew, Collin Smith; and a niece, Kinci Smith, all of Asheboro, N.C. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 17th at 2:00 p.m. in the Joanna First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Saturday following the service at the church.
