Lillian Marie Johnson (nee Bolwell), a former nurses aide at Yonkers General Hospital and longtime Yonkers resident, died on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at St. John's Riverside Hospital in her 97th year. She was born on August 28, 1904 to William and Matilda Schwab Bolwell in Yonkers. She attended White Plains Grammar School. Mrs. Johnson was a longtime resident of Yonkers before moving to North White Plains 6 months ago. Mrs. Johnson was a member of South Presbyterian Church in Yonkers and a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 530. She also won many civic awards from the City of Yonkers. Survivors include a son, Robert H. Johnson of West Harrison, NY and a daughter-in-law, Ann Johnson of Yonkers. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Johnson, Sr., 2 sons, William and Arthur Johnson, 2 daughters, Marion Bartell and Edna Gesner and grandson Ralph Johnson. Visitation will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Saturday 7-9 pm and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the South Presbyterian Church on Monday, April 9th at 10am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings on Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Presbyterian Church, 112 Radford St., Yonkers, NY 10705 in her name would be appreciated.
