Obituary of Kenneth-Gordon Cox

COX, Kenneth Gordon, Suddenly at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the age of 67. Loving & devoted husband, best friend & lifelong love for 43 years of Diane (nee Shires). Cherished & devoted father of daughters; C orrine (Sean) McKernan, Maureen (Tim) Reynolds and precious son & coffee buddy, Steve. Adored Pampie of his truly beloved grandchildren Zachary (Cailey), Joshua & Noah McKernan and Marlie & Samantha Reynolds. They were truly the pride & joy of his li fe. Pampie taught them to believe in magic & to believe in themselves. Loving brother of Dorothy Foster, Leonard (Myrna) Cox, Donald (Sharon) Cox and Marilyn (Wayne) Kadey. Truly loved son-in-law of Freda Shires and sister-in-law, Lynda Shires. Prede ceased by his parents; Bill & Annie Cox and brothers Bill & James Cox. Ken was born in Cochrane, Ont., moved to Merritton at an early age, and was very proud to be a Merrittonian. Ken was the ultimate hockey grandfather, rarely missing his grandson's games; he was well known at the Merritton Arena as he cheered on the Merritton Bulldogs over the years. Ken followed his boys from pre-school skating, through Midget in Merritton, Josh more recently at CYO & Noah (Ollie the Goalie) in Pee Wee AAA. H e could always be counted on for his famous pre-game encouraging phone call. That Leaf's hat helped them through thick & thin!. Marlie & Samantha were the apples of his eye. If you asked him they could do no wrong. He was their constant supply of lov e, hugs, encouragement, riddles & rides. For his grandchildren he would drive to the end of the earth. A lifetime of precious memories will be carried on through all of our lives. His spirit will be forever in his chair. Dad, don't worry, we'll "watc h ourselves backing out" of the driveway; we now have the best guardian angel. The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street, 905-684-6346, on Monday, November 1, 2004 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Servi ce in the Chapel on Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Niagara Peninsula Children's Centre or the Merritton Arena Building Fund. 11/1/2004- ID5125621 - St. Catharines Standard
