King, Kenneth EverettJuly 3, 1926 - April 11, 2010Kenneth Everett King, 83, of Sarasota, died April 11, 2010.Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Gulf Gate Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Elaine Burrell; a daughter, Pamela A. of Charleston, S.C.; a son, Kenneth E. Jr. of Boston; a Granddaughter, Amber; a grandson, Michael; and two great-grandsons, Benjamin and Lucas.He was a happy man who enjoyed all that life had to offer. He was always a gentleman, on or off the golf course.A World War II Navy veteran, he was an alumnus of Tufts College.Ken and Elaine raised their family in Sudbury, Mass., where they were active in the community.Ken had a successful career in the confectionery industry, starting his own firm, Brierley & King Brokerage Firm. He was listed in the Candy Hall of Fame in Hershey, Pa. Upon moving to Marblehead, they became sailors. Later, Ken took up sculpting as a hobby and became quite proficient.After Ken's retirement, he and Elaine traveled the world.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church.
