EAST MACHIAS - Kenneth Eugene Roberts, 56, died Monday, April 5, 2010, at home with his loving family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ken was born June 22, 1953, in Machias, the son of Howard and Myrtle Roberts. Ken met and married Vickie (Hooper) Roberts, his soul mate and the love of his life for 33 years. Together they lived in East Machias, where they had one son, Ryan Roberts. After graduating from Washington Academy he went to work at Machias Textile Mill. After that closed, he worked at Main Street Gulf. Then in 2002, Ken and Harley Jhanson became business partners and opened Mid Town Auto Repair, where he worked until he couldn't anymore due to his illness. Ken enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandsons who were the light of his life. He built them a clubhouse that had to be just right. He also liked older cars. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Vickie Roberts; son, Ryan S. Roberts and wife, Amy and their children, Matt, Hayden, Ian and Sheridan; his father, Howard H. Roberts; special friends, Harley and Sally Jhanson and family, and Alden Woodman; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and all his friends from Mid Town Auto Repair. He was predeceased by his mother, Myrtle (Parsons) Roberts; and brother, Thomas D. Roberts. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Jacksonville Cemetery with Pastor William Dodge officiating. A gathering will be held directly after the graveside service at East Machias Municipal Building, East Machias.
