Mrs. Katie Thompson Walker - AILEY - Mrs. Katie Thompson Walker, 90, of Ailey, died Friday morning, May 20, 2011, in the Bethany Home Nursing Center of Vidalia after an extended illness. Mrs. Walker was a native of Ailey and resided in Denmark, S.C. for many years before returning to Vidalia in 1998. She was a retired school teacher in the public school system with 30 years of service and was a member of the Denmark Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Walker is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Mead Walker. She is survived by a daughter, Katherine W. Copenhaver of Stone Mountain; one brother, Ned Thompson of Ailey; one sister, Eula T. Brown of Vidalia and one granddaughter, Karen Copenhaver. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, May 22, at 2:30 from the Ronnie L. Stewart Funeral Service Chapel of Vidalia, with Reverend Alec Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 1:30 until the funeral hour. Interment will follow in the Glenn J. Thompson Cemetery. Ronnie L.
