Obituary of Katie-Mae Carter

Winterville - Katie Mae Carter, 88, died August 29, 2006.Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Mattie Wortham Stewart and preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Stewart, Floyd Stewart and James Earl Stewart. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Silas L. Carter. She was a longtime member of Winterville First Baptist Church, the Marion Coile Sunday School Class and Keen Agers.Survivors include her children, Gene and Linda Carter of Blairsville, GA; Gail and Larry Dendy of Winterville and Harry Ray and Michele Carter of Comer; sister, Bernice Duncan of Commerce; grandchildren, Brian Carter of Hartwell, Tracie Greene and her husband Bobby, of Crossville, TN, Tony Carter of Atlanta and Christopher Dendy and his wife, Rozy Park of West Chester, OH; great grandchildren, Katie Greene, Nathan Greene, Park (PD) Dendy and Carter Bohyun Dendy; brothers in law and sisters in law, Edward and Ruthie Carter, Hazel Carter, Lloyd Carter, Opal Griffin and Mable Stewart and a number of nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be Friday, September 1, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Revs. Palmer Rehberg and Jeff Lester officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
