ObituaryKATHRYN PATRICIA (PAT) HARTNETT HUGHESITHACA - Kathryn Patricia (Pat) Hartnett Hughes of Ithaca and Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2003.The daughter of Patrick J. and Beatrice Cotter Hartnett, she was born in Ithaca on March 2, 1914. She attended Ithaca City Schools, graduating from Ithaca High, and in New York City, attended Katherine Gibbs, New York University, and was a Business Administration graduate of City College of New York.Her professional endeavors included roles with Duncan Hines, State Farm Insurance, Ithaca City Schools as secretary to the Vice Principles (retired 1974), and Jo-Ann Fabrics in Ithaca (retired 1996).She was an active communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna and Immaculate Conception Churches in Ithaca and St. Ignatius Church in Antoich, TN.A generous community volunteer, she worked with Kitchen Cupboard, Bib & Tucker, Meals On Wheels, Service League Shop, the Red Cross and RSVP. She was a member and secretary for Northeast Senior Citizens, a local elections inspector, and a member of Catholic Daughter of America, Third Wednesday Club, Ithaca School Retirees and the Ithaca Women's Club."Pat" was a gracious and caring "lady". Always supportive and thoughtful of others. She was a gentle positive influence in her world. She was predeceased by her husband, George W. Hughes; daughter, Judith Camin; and brothers, John and Joseph Hartnett. Left behind to remember her loving spirit are her son, Joseph Hartnett-Hughes of Ithaca; granddaughters, Susan Camin of Ithaca and Diane Moat of Nashville, TN; sister-in-law, Helen Hartnett of Ithaca; and so many others whose hearts, minds and lives she touched.At her request, there are no services. If you wish to make a gesture in Kathryn's memory, volunteer in you local community or donate to Meals On Wheels at Nutrition for the Elderly, 2422, North Triphammer Rd., Ithaca, NY.Bangs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
