Dr. Kathryn Wasserman Davis, 106, died April 23, 2013, at her home. She was born in Philadelphia and lived in Hobe Sound for more than 20 years, coming from Tarrytown, N.Y. She was a journalist, author, philanthropist and scholar. She was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, Council of American Ambassadors, New York Stock Exchange, and the Visiting Committee of the Davis Center at Harvard. She also was a Wellesley College trustee and trustee emerita, a trustee at the United World College-USA, an honorary trustee at the Heritage Foundation, trustee emerita at the Youth Foundation, the Advisory Board of Seeds of Peace and an officer and trustee of the Women's National Republican Club. She held a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College, a master's in international relations from Columbia University and a doctorate from the University of Geneva, Switzerland. She also had honorary doctorates from Columbia University, Wheaton College and Middlebury College. She was a supporter of Scenic Hudson and the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. Survivors include her daughter, Diana Davis Spencer of Washington, D.C.; son, Shelby M.C. Davis of Jackson, Wyo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Shelby Cullom Davis. Memorial contributions may be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice, 1201 S.E.
