MOORE, Kathleen Harriett (nee Tunbridge)July 28, 1929 - June 1, 2014It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathy Moore, at the age of 84, from complications related to pneumonia. The eldest of four, she was born to Arthur and Luella, and grew up on a farm near Preeceville, Saskatchewan with her younger brothers, Ted, Dave, and Ron. The family moved to Calgary where she graduated from Crescent Heights High School and went on to complete nursing training at the Holy Cross and Ponoka Hospitals, becoming a Registered Nurse. She would meet her future husband, the late Ted Moore, at a community dance and the two of them would go on to build a thriving household in Meadowlark Park with a family of five children, Kelvin, Ken, Rob, Brent, and Maureen. She raised her family with gentle love, wonderful meals and true devotion. As an accomplished pianist, she led the family in sing-alongs, especially at Christmas. She was an active curler, bowler and golfer as well as a key figure in all of her children's academic, musical and sporting activities. These included hockey, soccer, baseball, the Calgary Stampede Band, and her daughter's highland dancing and Young Canadian performances. She did this all while working diligently as Dad's business manager for his denture clinic. Summers were spent at Lake Windermere and many trips to visit her oldest son in Pennsylvania and Tennessee, with winter excursions to Mexico and Hawaii. Life was not always kind to Mom. She suffered the tragic losses of her sons, Robbie and Kelvin, as well as a divorce from her one true love after 33 years of marriage. She persevered and moved to Invermere and Kelowna, making good friends with her kind way and caring nature, while furthering her love of bridge, cribbage and Sudoku. Later years brought her back to Calgary, where she enjoyed life at the Valley Ridge Lodge, keeping up with her children, grandchildren, great-grandson and her beloved friends and extended family. Mom, we love you dearly, and we will miss you. In honor of Mom's charitable and selfless heart, remember to give to others. God Bless. At Mom's request, a Memorial Service for family and close friends will be held on Friday, June 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lodge at Valley Ridge. Following the Service, we will gather at a private residence from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to celebrate Kathy's life. For location details, please call 403-241-6519. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
