Ms. Kathleen "Kat" McClure, age 88, of Main Street, Oakwood, passed away Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at the Resting Nest Nursing Home, Gainesville following an extended illness. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Rev. Glenn Parrish and the Rev. Billy Britt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at the funeral home. Ms. McClure was born in Forsyth County and was the daughter of the late Claude L. McClure and Lillie (Forrest) McClure. She was Jesse Jewell's bookkeeper for 18 years. She served in the Oakwood City Council for many years and was a member of the Oakwood Methodist Church, where she served as the treasurer for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Claude Jr. and Margaret McClure; sister and brother-in-law, Irene Carson Britt; brother-in-law, Benny Eades; and niece, Dawn Lilly Holcomb Wilson. Ms. McClure is survived by her sister, Betty Eades, Gainesville; sister and husband, Carol Dean and Joe Holcomb, Chicopee; nieces and husbands, Marion and Ralph Allen, Duluth, Peggy and Jack Green, Perry, the Rev. Billy and Joyce Britt, Dacula; nephew, Lewis McClure, Buford; nephews and wives, Larry and Kathy McDaniel, Flowery Branch and Bruce and Polly Eades, Gainesville; nieces and husbands, Denise and Jeff Hall, Albany, Dale and Ken Stone, Franklin, Tenn., and Becky and Greg Olson, Cleveland; and a number of other family and friends also survive.
