Kathleen-Edna Davis, born in 1919, died on April 16, 2009. Please consult the obituary here:
DAVIS Kathleen Edna Davis, of Fernandina Beach, passed away on April 16, 2009 at her home. Daughter of the late Ernest P. Davis, Sr. and Edna Mizell Davis, she was born on November 19, 1919 at Orange Bluff, FL; but her first memories were of Crandall, a now abandoned community on the St. Mary's River where her family soon relocated. In 1931, the Davis family moved to Fernandina where she graduated from Fernandina High School. She later attended Wesleyan College. Employed by Container Corporation for twenty-five years, she retired as head of the Payroll Department. She was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church; needle-pointing several altar kneeling cushions, and serving for many years as Superintendent of the children's Sunday School as well as financial secretary. She was a world traveler, first traveling Europe with her mother and sisters and returning only days before World War II began. An authority on the Davis - Mizell family history, she collected historical documents and family reminiscences in a volume called "We Remember", compiled for her nieces and nephews in 1982. She is predeceased by her brothers, Ernest P. Davis, Jr. and Stuart H. Davis, her sister, Suzanne Davis Hardee and a nephew, Davis Carter Morgan. She leaves behind a sister, Barbara Davis Morgan (Jack), of Covington, GA and eighteen nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. A beloved daughter, sister and aunt, she was a devoted friend to many. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Monday from the Memorial United Methodist Church, Fernandina Beach with Reverend Brett Opalinski and Reverend Hollie Tapley, officiating. Miss Davis will be laid to rest in the family section of Bosque Bello Cemetery. Guests and friends are invited to visit on Sunday from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. The family suggests that contributions in her memory may be made to the Memorial United Methodist Church, 601 Centre Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.
