DOYLE, Kathleen (Kay) BeatriceJune 29, 1919 – May 1, 2014 In sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Kay Doyle, after a brief battle with pneumonia and flu. Kay passed peacefully in the presence of family members on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the age of 94 years. She was born in Champion, AB in 1919 and later met Lewis Doyle in Stavely, AB, where they were married in May 1938. They subsequently moved to Nanton, AB and raised a family. Life was often tough, but mom was a willing worker, devoted mother and determined partner who helped to keep the family vibrant and moving forward. With limited resources, she always managed to put great meals on the table and still balanced the budget. Our family grew a huge garden each year and in addition, mom applied her green thumb to wonderful houseplants. When Lewis became the custodian/janitor at JT Foster High School, mom worked side by side with him every day, until he retired. Kay was very active in St. Cecilia's CWL and her baking was always in demand at their bake sales. She was a proud member of the committee that organized the fund-raising effort to build the Nanton Boy Scout's hall. She was an avid bridge and Scrabble player, and then switched to cribbage when her eyesight failed. Kay was predeceased by her parents, husband Lewis, daughter Brenda, brother Bud and sister Pauline. She is survived by her sons Terry (Linda), Jim (Marlene), and Tom, her grandchildren Sean (Lisa), Colleen (Sean), Jill, Liam (Katherine), and Michele (Kris), 7 great-grandchildren, and cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to name. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Nanton on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kay's honor may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Association. A special thank you to all the staff at Bow View Manor Longterm Care Facility in Calgary, for their thoughtful care for Kathleen.
