Billie was born in Vancouver on May 4, 1916 and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2011 in her 96th year. Pre-deceased by her husband, Gordon, and her brothers Rex and Ron, Billie is lovingly remembered by her sons Douglas (Nadia), Steve (Cathy), and Bill (Brenda); grandchildren Paul (April), Susan (Craig), Beau, and Rachel; great granddaughter Nicole; and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. Billie attended St Anthony's College, Kitsilano High School, The BC School of Pharmacy, and on her birthday in 1938 she received her RN Diploma from Vancouver General Hospital. In 1939-40 Billie attended UBC and received her PHN Diploma, and for many years served the Greater Vancouver Area as a Public Health Nurse. Billie will be remembered for a life characterized by healthy living, her wide and varied interests, and for volunteering at the Seafarers' Mission, her church, and Meals on Wheels in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside. A memorial service for Billie will be held on Tuesday, July 26th at 2pm at St. Christopher's Anglican Church, 11th and Inglewood, West Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Billie's memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
