MURPHY, Kathleen Anne, 72, of Tampa, formerly of Torrington, Conn., died Thursday, August 21, 2008. Born August 19, 1936, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, she was the eldest daughter of the late Timothy and Catherine (Sheehan) Murphy, also of Torrington. A graduate of Torrington High School class of ' 54, she participated locally in the Miss America Pageant and was honored by being voted Miss Congeniality. Kathleen also compassionately dedicated her time and efforts for several years to the Susan B. Anthony Project in Torrington, caring and advocating for women and children in crisis. She is survived by four children, Kim Torneo, Anthony and Timothy Torneo, and Valerie D' Andrea Braddock and her husband, Clayton Braddock; and four sisters, Colleen Hilliard, Rosalind Turbarge, and Mary-Jo and Bridget Murphy. In addition, she leaves seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
