Kathy Moore, 60 ELGIN -- Katherine Sheila "Kathy" Moore, 60, died of cancer December 10. She was born in Forfar July 18, 1944 to Roy Moore and the former Hazel Day, the eldest of five children. As a child she lived in Newboro and later on Garrett Road, just outside of Elgin. She attended school in Crosby and Elgin. On December 24, 1960, she married Lewis Haskin of Black Rapids and had four children. After divorcing she lived in Newboro, Athens and Brockville. In 1990 she moved to Calgary, Alberta, where she lived until December 2003, at which time she returned home to Elgin. While in Calgary she drove a "pilot vehicle" for oversize truck loads. She enjoyed this career very much as she was able to see many parts of western Canada and the United States. She also enjoyed following the racing career of her nephew Adam Moore. She is survived by three of her children, Eileen Watson of Athens, Liz Martin and husband Steve of Medicine Hat, Alta., Darrell Haskin and friend Pam Dier of Gananoque, as well as grandchildren Ashley Watson and Joshua Moore of Forfar. Also surviving are three brothers, Gerald Moore and wife Sharon, Evan Moore and wife Karen of Elgin, Gordon Moore and wife Mary of Forfar; sister Janet Jackson and husband Warren of Elgin; a special aunt, Victoria Kelly, and husband Ernie of Mallorytown and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Roy and Hazel Moore and her daughter Caroline Haskin. A graveside service was held at Halladay Cemetery, Elgin, on December 18. Memorial donations were directed to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Scotland Funeral Home, Elgin, was entrusted with funeral arrangements.
